Experience
The first Yamaha piano was crafted purely by hand in Japan over 100 years ago under the direction of Torakusu Yamaha, the founder of the company. This major achievement was timely, as it coincided with the period in Japan’s history when the country was opening up to Western influences and to cultural interchange. This created the unique opportunity for Torakusuto blend from both the East and the West – all that is best in piano-making craftsmanship and expertise.
It was clear to Torakusu Yamaha from the very beginning that he would need the right partners if he wished to spread his concept and creation of the perfect instrument across the world. Country by country, a network of retailers was gradually built up with many of these associates being very experienced, master piano makers in their own right. Their ability and experience ensured that they could recognise, and more importantly, be able to achieve the requirements and philosophy demanded by the Yamaha quality standard.
Since then, a mutual appreciation and great trust has grown up among generations of retailers. The shared know-how and the constant exchange of ideas and experiences at all levels benefits everybody – the Yamaha brand, its distributors, the art of producing pianos and, of course, the musicians who play the instrument, their audiences and ultimately the music itself.
