This commitment starts in the Premium Piano workshop where each of the 10,000 plus components that make up a Premium Piano are individually and painstakingly produced from carefully selected, top-quality materials.
Once constructed, technicians ensure that each instrument sounds its very best by a process of careful evaluation, and then the application of fine adjustments to the voicing and regulation ensure that the piano will sound superb – whether its final destination is a vast auditorium or a private room.

Yamaha’s piano technicians are experienced and skilled artisans of their trade with deep roots in both the Japanese and European traditions of piano craftsmanship, as well as having in-depth knowledge of the latest techniques of instrument manufacturing – a powerful blend indeed. With this deep knowledge and understanding, they know exactly what fine adjustment or delicate touch a piano requires to optimise the performance. The YPTG (Yamaha Piano Technicians Guild) was formed with the aim of sharing this knowledge with those taking care of Premium Pianos. The technicians from all of Europe’s Premium Piano retailers were invited to become members, creating a platform where the sharing of know-how, experience and skills could take place and also ensuring that all locations within the network had the highest level of expertise available to support all our customers’ requirements.
The Guild integrates valuable experience with comprehensive knowledge by bringing together Europe’s top piano experts. Specialist presentations devoted to the many individual aspects of Yamaha piano craftsmanship regularly enhance the Guild’s knowledge base. This means that YPTG technicians are equally comfortable in Yamaha’s Premium Piano retailers as they are in as Europe’s concert halls and music academies.
